Calisthenics has been in Queensland now for approximately 30 years, first originating in Victoria over 100 years ago.
Calisthenics is one of the fastest growing artistic sports in Australia that people of all ages can participate in, either recreational or competitive.
It is a combination of dance, ballet, gymnastics, singing and apparatus technique, designed to develop strength, poise, discipline, teamwork, self esteem and confidence in its participants.
Calisthenics involves a team of pupils learning routines choreographed to music – each of about three to four minutes duration – and presenting those routines at competitions. Pupils learn approximately six routines concurrently throughout a year and this is where the diversity of the sport is seen.
It's Calisthenics! We love it!
